Dr. Hemmy is a licensed clinical health psychologist in the states of California, Maryland, and Ohio She has provided individual, couples, family, and group therapy since 2007. Dr. Hemmy is equipped to help you navigate various life challenges like interpersonal conflicts, depressive and anxiety symptoms, chronic health conditions, and problematic substance use.
Dr. Hemmy completed her dual doctorates in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and Public Health, Preventive Care (DrPH) from Loma Linda University. She also has a masters degree in marriage and family therapy. After earning her degrees and completing her internship at the Cincinnati VAMC, she received additional postdoctoral training at the Washington DC VAMC, where she later worked as an integrated health psychologist. Dr. Hemmy has extensive experience in health psychology, substance use disorder, and providing clinical supervision.
Dr. Hemmy is currently managing a substance use disorder program that helps veterans struggling with problematic substance use, chronic health conditions, and co-morbid mental health diagnoses. She also serves as the National Coordinator for the HIV and Liver Disease Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship.
